Shadowed by poverty & ignorance, schooling was just a dream for her until Shuruaat team found her came forward to support her. Rani had scored a high of 99/100 in Math among 40 other children in her class.
Shuruaat Classes
Children are stranded in the city where they face many challenges.
We go to the slums, streets & colony to reach the children to conduct classes and for other Shuruaat activities.
Harinagar
Slum
SHURUAAT is working here since 3 years and are actively involved with 30 children. Lack of awareness about Education for the Girl Child is the main issue, the women and girls here mostly would work as maids and many men were addicted to Alcohol. Difference brought about by SHURUAAT. Along with educating the girls, there has been a effort to teach women too. A proud moment was when Neha got the highest marks ever for a student from the slum in her 10th boards.
Chungi Alopibag
Tiranga Park
SHURUAAT is mentoring 60 Children for 2 years now. Problems were plenty, apart from the lack of awareness about education, minor girls were put into begging or got married. Impact of SHURUAAT: Atleast 80% of the girls are being taught, and a lot of senior girls who had quit school are admitted again. A good initiative has been that through sports talent is being identified, an example being Nandini who has won medals at the district level in Kabbadi and Wrestling.
Girijaghar
Footpath
Keeping 15 children away from begging and drugs since January 2018. With no roof on their heads, and sleeping on the footpath, the children had zero exposure to schools or education, and were victims of begging, drug abuse and sexual abuse. SHURUAAT's Role: Through Games and a lot of involvement, the children have been made interested in learning, the immediate benefit being that several have stopped going for begging.
Prayagraj (Allahabad)
Railway Station
Interacting with 20 Kids since May 2019. The children live on the platform, with some into begging, picking garbage and others selling stuff like Gutkha on the trains. Almost all of them are victims of drug abuse. SHURUAAT's Plan to Impact: Many children desire to study, but as they are not able to afford, they don't go to School. Presently they are being engaged through Art and Games to generate interest on learning.
